Since 2000, guidelines for Organic beekeeping is defined by the EU organic regulation.

◎No use of synthetic chemicals in honey harvesting, in the treatment of bee diseases and in the control of.
◎Beehives may only be made of natural.
◎If winter feeding is permitted, the feed (sugar) must be 100% organic.
◎The location of the beehives must be chosen so that there are as few non- or ecologically managed areas in the vicinity as possible.
◎Beeswax for new foundation sheets must come from organic production.
